30 Day Wellness Challenge - Week 3

30 Day Wellness Challenge

The second week of the Wellness Challenge is over and we're eager to know how you found it. This week (Week 2) was all about keeping active! It's ok if you've found the challenges hard, or if you've not been able to do every one. The point of the challenge is to have one or two takeaways for you to adopt into your daily life to promote better mental wellness. It goes for most 30 day challenges, you're attempting to embrace a new lifestyle change that will ultimately have a positive effect on your mental wellness.

Let's recap the challenges from the last week.

Week 2 - Be Active

Feel free to start on the 30 day challenge even if you've joined us a little late, all the info can be found over on our instagram page and the BBC Website.

Sometimes our motivation for staying active wanders off, especially when we're feeling a bit rubbish about ourselves. Keeping active doesn't have to mean changing too much though... as you can see from some of the challenges like, make it a walking meeting or walking a new route to work. Those are things you're probably already, meetings and getting to work. This way you're just choosing a 'active' option. As mentioned in our post on instagram, if you drive to work, take a stroll at lunchtime or hop off the train/bus a few stops early to get in some daylight and fresh air. Very small changes can have a big impact on our wellbeing and finding these little tweaks to our routine is something we should give more time and attention.

Going into the new week, keep in mind how you felt after doing some of last weeks challenges. What energised you, what didn't, what works for you. It isn't about what others find interesting or exciting. Now is probably a great time to mention about who you follow on social media. If there is someone you follow on whatever platform who, every time you see a post from them you feel crap... stop following them. There are so many positive accounts out there and you should endeavour to fill your feed with things that don't drag you down.

If you imagine organising a party, you invite the people you love, the ones who make you laugh, the ones who won't cause trouble, the ones who add something to your life, not take anything away. This is exactly like social media. You're having a party and if someone's being really toxic and making you or your friends feel bad, you'd ask them to stop or, you'd not invite them again. This is all about learning who is for you and who isn't. Keep asking yourself, does this person/company add to my life, or take away from it?

Week 3 - Keep Learning!

"Learning new skills can be useful, but research shows it can also improve our mental wellbeing. It doesn't have to mean getting more qualifications. There are lots of different ways to bring learning into your life."

As we journey into week 3, be open to learning something new. Perhaps learning about a new person who inspires you, or a new meal you'd like to cook regularly will influence other areas of your life in a positive way.
