30 Day Wellness Challenge - Week 2

30 Day Wellness Challenge

The first week of the Wellness Challenge is over and we're eager to know how you found it. Don't worry if you didn't get round to doing something everyday. The point of this challenge is to find one or two takeaways for you adopt into your day to day life in order to promote better mental wellness. If you can manage to take one thing from each week and theme, even better!

Let's recap the challenges so far...

Week 1 - Connect

Feel free to start on the 30 day challenge even if you've joined us a little late, all the info can be found over on our instagram page and the BBC Website.

Something I've noticed this week is that there are opportunities for little interactions everywhere, everyday. When you hold something in the front of your mind, giving it space to grow, you'll notice things spring up regularly. I'm sure you have those days where you think strange coincidences keep happening but it's probably because a thought linked to those seemingly random things is already floating around in your head. You crave chocolate and you then go on to see someone eating a bar, hear someone say the word, the adverts on tv keep popping up and you start to think someone is actually torturing you... those kinds of things.

Anyway! Going into a new week, it's worth keeping this technique in mind as we keep active! Allocate a space in your mind to allow this theme to grow as the days go by.

Week 2 - Be Active!

"Being active is great for your physical health and fitness, and evidence shows it can also improve your mental wellbeing."

As you may or may not know, Kate Edwards set up Spin City in 2007 with the aim of getting more women into exercise. Kate understood gyms and sports clubs, could often prove an intimidating environment to women - especially if you have been out of exercise for a while. With Spin City, the idea was to create exercise classes for women that provided great fitness benefits in a social, fun and friendly environment that was open to women of all ages, sizes, abilities and fitness levels. Pretty awesome right?

Spin City Newbury is now run by Katy Walklet. Prior to discovering Spin City Newbury, Katy had no background in fitness, dance or gymnastics, and couldn't get to grips with exercise of any kind until she started pole classes in 2012. After training as an instructor, she's never looked back and continues to make the studio a safe and welcoming environment for everyone!

Taking a regular fitness class is a good way to live a healthier life in lots of ways: you have a chance to connect with others, you have an opportunity to step out of your comfort zone, you might find your place in a new community, you have something to look forward to and you build routine. All important ways to feel connected and keep momentum in bettering your wellbeing.

If you've not yet tried a class with us, your first class is FREE and could be just the thing you need to kick off your week of being active. Use code YNXPANLJ when you book online
